Based in Scotland – thinking and working internationally.
I am a documentary and portrait photographer based in Edinburgh. My work focuses on quiet encounters with people and the spaces they inhabit, approached through long-form observation and collaborative process.
I am interested in photography as a means of holding space rather than extracting moments. My practice prioritises consent, attentiveness, and stillness, allowing subjects to meet the camera on their own terms rather than through performance or direction. I am drawn to situations where presence is undecided and unresolved, and where meaning emerges slowly over time.
Alongside this, I am developing an ongoing series of studio portraits. These sessions are deliberately restrained, using minimal settings and a slow pace to foreground collaboration and agency. The studio work is not intended to replace documentary practice but to clarify it — by removing context to understand presence better.
My work is intended for exhibition and publication, and forms part of a longer-term commitment to socially engaged photographic practice.
